I woke up this morning, in Hawaii, thinking about connections.  It started with the smell in the air, which reminded me of Kindergarten, when I lived here and although I don’t remember too much about that time, the smell of plumeria and sunshine bring me right back to such a happy place.

I think the cool thing about Life Coaching is the opportunity it gives you to access the power of collaboration as you look at the life you want to create. You get the chance to learn how your thinking directly impacts the results you get and more importantly, you get to collaborate with someone on how to go about creating the results you want.

My brother in law sent me an article this morning.  This morning is the morning after the first presidential debate.  The debate left me feeling sucker punched and depleted.  I had high hopes for that debate . . .but ended up turning it off after about 40 minutes.  My heart was racing, my body felt agitated and I couldn’t calm down. (The body never lies)  I felt like I was watching something that I admired and loved (namely civil discourse and democracy) get shot out of the sky and tumble to the earth.  So when he sent me the article… at first I didn’t want to read it. I didn’t want anything more to do with that debate.

Brooke Castillo is the founder and creator of The Life Coach School and a teacher that I’ve learned a lot from this past year. I love the idea that your life is in your hands, it isn’t something that just happens to you. It is sometimes easy to think that life just happens to us and we have only to react. But to believe this abdicates our own power. It is our ability to decide and to make decisions that create both power and strength in us.
