Enthusiasm
I love to see them come… and I hate to see them go. It is Spring break for some of my grandkids, so they came to California to play. When they visit, one of the things they love (and I love) is seeing them get together with their cousins who live here. It is amazing… they run around in an eight person pack and there is a constant hum of enthusiasm for each other and for whatever it is they are doing. I’m amazed at them… and the belief and confidence that they have for each new activity.
Shall we go to the beach and try surfing? - “YES! We can do it!”
Shall we do a craft project and make paper? - “YES! I’ve always wanted to do that!”
Want to try these California strawberries that are as big as your head? - “Can we just have them for dinner every night??”
How about this new peanut butter cookie recipe? - “These are going to be the best cookies EVER!!”
Hiking in Irvine Park? - “Can we bring a scooter and bikes, feed the ducks and horseback ride?”
Grammie - Can we put on a play? Write a song? Make up a new game?
When does that shift happen? From enthusiasm and confidence for every new thing changes to self doubt, judgement and fear? I’ve been thinking about this as I’ve been building my new coaching business and learning a lot about the entrepreneur mindset. It seems that almost every aspect of this is new to me and sometimes I do let the doubt and fear win.
On the other hand…. I know that it is my beliefs and thoughts that create the results I get. So… I’m taking the time to create some space to feel it all and be intentional about my thinking. I’m letting my eight beautiful grandchildren lead the way for me! Forward …. and yet back to a joyful approach. Life is good!
