Waiting, Waiting, Waiting

I called my mom last night and laughed when she said “I can’t wait until Christmas!”.  (Yes… you can double check the date here… it is June)  It got me thinking about the idea of waiting….  And that saying “I can’t wait..”  Knowing my mom, I realized that she really meant that she won’t wait.. she will start to think about gifts, decorations, traditions all in preparation for her favorite holiday. It strikes me as such a true and important belief … we really shouldn’t wait. We can’t just sit around and wait… for anything.

Waiting is such a passive act and is really unnecessary when we consider the possibility that opportunity and providence is all around us. It is true, Christmas isn’t for awhile, but look at all you can create before December arrives. I believe that God, the Universe, or whatever you believe is constantly trying to help us and to teach us.  When we actively look around for a new idea, an open door, a new possibility, those things will come.  Can we say the same if we just wait?  Keeping your mind open can create new things, or it can help you to see the things that are already there, often right in front of you.  Looking for solutions, lessons and new paths will actually create them for you.

I’ve learned to ask “How can this be happening for me?” rather than “Why is this happening to me?”  Can you feel the difference?  One is open… leaves me looking for new possibilities.  The other leaves me turned inward, closed and sad.  Our Primitive  brains are wired to avoid danger, which can lead us to lean toward the negative, keeping us safe from imagined danger… passively waiting.  We can re-train, rewire and rethink ourselves to create more positivity in our lives. To keep us moving forward in new and exciting ways. It is incredibly powerful work and  I love being a part of it.

 Which leads to the question….

What are you waiting for?
