New Year - New You (or . . . just love the you that you are today)

I like the whole idea of starting a new year and thinking about personal growth, but I have to admit.. I’m not a huge fan of New Year's Resolutions.  I think it is because for me, they always come from a place of lack.  Often they hold a subtle echo (in parentheses) of self-criticism.  I want to get organized!  (I’m not very organized) I want to loose 15 pounds (I’m so overweight) I’m going to exercise more (I don’t exercise enough) and the list goes on and on.

I was listening to a meditation, which was done by a friend of mine, Vanessa Loder.  She just started her free 30 day meditation challenge which is always great for me!  She sends you a 5 minute meditation each day for 30 days, a great way to start a meditation practice if you are interested. Anyway, in the meditation for today, she talked about three words: Surrender, Allow and Trust which when applied to your life, help to create ease and often more joy.  I’ve been thinking about these words and how I can incorporate them more into my daily life.  I’ve been trying to approach the day with more awareness of what I need to let go of, how I can allow for what will be presented  to me and then to trust that things will come as I need them and that I can learn and grow from these things.  It has been a small shift, but one that has been so interesting and fun.  I find myself looking for good.  Looking for ways to learn and grow in the many little situations that arise in my life.  A new person invites me to play pickleball?  Boom… an opportunity for more exercise!  A suddenly free morning, yes… I can tackle my to do list.  A nice dinner out… yes!   I’m going to enjoy it and I know . . .  I’ll probably not lose that final 15 lbs today and that is ok.  So far, I’ve really enjoyed this approach to growth for me.  I think about what I want to do or be and then practice Surrender, Allow and Trust.  So often, the universe has my best interest in mind and good things come. . Try it… what do you need to surrender, allow and trust today?

Sending you lots of love!
