Confidence

Insight comes from some funny places.  I was watching American Idol last night…. (don’t judge) and Katy Perry, one of the judges, was complimenting one of the contestants on her performance.  In her critique, she said “ Confidence is a choice you make in your head”.  I love that she knows this and that she lives this way.  From her crazy outfits, to drastic hair changes each week, she does it all with a confident flare. I’ve been thinking about that.

Confidence is a choice, a feeling created by thoughts in your head.  For most of us, (and probably for Katy Perry too)  the real competition is usually happening between all the thoughts in our heads.  Those other thoughts that cause doubt, indecision, resistance, or anxiety.  It is those thoughts that are always trying to get to center stage. Sometimes, confidence takes a back row seat.  I seem to grab confidence in bits and pieces, in short spurts.  It is hard to hold on to consistently.  So, how do you grow confidence in your life?  Awareness is the first step. . .   always.

Ultimately, the freedom that comes from doing this work is a natural confidence builder.  Building an awareness of the thoughts and beliefs that drive you can allow you to make confident decisions about what you want in your life.  Which thoughts are you feeding?

I’m opening up my client roster for the next few weeks.  Is there something that you would like to work on in your life?  A coach can help!  Let’s talk!
